The foundation journey
Well known make-up artist Linda Wickman is the woman who can make your skin flawless.
“I worked with
so many amazingly creative photographers,” Linda Wickman, who went to make-up
school in London, says. She continued living in the city for many years after
graduation. “What an inspiring city. I remember one of my first shoots with Lily
Coles. She was so shy and lovely. Today she is a well known model.”
When Linda got back to Norway
she worked on a shoot for the newspaper Dagbladet and met singer songwriter Lene
Marlin who loved the way she did her make-up, and continued booking her for
shoots. “Since then I have been working with other Norwegian celebs like Marion
Ravn, Maria Mena and Lise Karlsnes,” she says. “I also work with fashion
magazines, fashion editorials and beauty editorials, which I really love.”
Linda has also been in charge
for all the make-up in the shows at Oslo Fashion Week.
“My last shoot was in New York with Dusan and beautiful Judith. I had such an
amazing day,” she says.
Linda met Hilde for the first time around two years ago. “We did a big fashion show together at the opening show at Oslo Fashion Week. Shortly after the show Hilde called me and asked if I wanted cooperate with Zanzuel and make my own Matt Mineral Foundation. I was thrilled.”
To make the foundation:
For Linda there are certain rules to what makes a good foundation. “It has to melt into your skin and give you an amazing glow. You really don’t want your skin to look shiny, just matt and gorgeous.”
How did you work to get the perfect consistence and colors?
Well almost 2 years has gone by, so it takes a long time to find the perfect consistence. After working very close with the chemists at the factory, and after testing an insane amount of samples, I finally managed to find the perfect consistence. The foundation needs to feel like your skin. Since it s a Matt Mineral Foundation it can’t be either to matt or too moist - just perfect.”
- What were the biggest challenges?
“The biggest challenge was to find the perfect feel of the Mineral Foundation. Since it is a matt mineral foundation you don t want the foundation to feel like a mask.”
- How should you put on a foundation to make it blend with your natural skin color?
“When you are testing your new foundation you need to find the right color. A lot of people just use their hand or wrist, but you should really try it on your face and check what it looks like in daylight.”
- How should you apply the foundation?
“The best way to put on your mineral foundation is to make it blend
into your skin. Start off with clean skin and your favorite
daily moisturizer. Let your moisturizer absorb into your skin before
you apply the foundation. Start with a little and then add more, it is easier
to add than to remove it nicely. And remember - it doesn’t look good if you are
wearing too much. When applying the mineral foundation add a little onto your
brush, and blend it into your skin, a little at the time.”
- What should you think of before buying a new foundation?
“The first thing you have to check out is the color of your own skin. Do you have a touch of pink or yellow? Sometimes it is so difficult to know. I feel like in the winter when my skin is cold and pale it’s more pinkish and then in the summer it tends to be more golden and glowing. I definitely need two sets of foundation during the year.”
- What makes BEKK foundation better than anyone else?
“I think everybody will be so surprised when they put it on. The foundation looks so real.
It is matt, but not matt like a mask - your skin will not feel stiff. The foundation has the perfect amount of moistness, and no shimmer like you can find in so many others mineral foundations. It has been such a challenge to make it perfect, but now I am so happy I did it. The foundation feels like your skin - but better!”
Linda’s
perfect skin tips:
“The secret to perfect skin is so obvious. Don’t burn your skin in the sun, don’t get dehydrated, take your make-up off at night and then add a good night cream - and of course, do not smoke. I have worked with a few models that smoke and it really shows on their skin. It feels very rough and it wrinkles easily when they get a little bit older.”
- If you only had three products in your make-up bag, what would they be?
“My mineral foundation, my mascara and a cream blush to put on my cheeks and lips”.
